Jeffrey is a servant leader with a new vision for the 11th District.
“I believe that one person can really make a big difference. I know that the socio-economic quality of life for my neighbors in the 11th District varies greatly from the ultra-poor living on the sidewalks to the ultra-rich casinos who employ people and keep our economy going. In fact, our District also has one of the largest and most visible housing challenged populations in all of Clark County. The State and City encourage and support new small business investment, but in other ways, they make it harder for people to drive into the urban business centers and find parking for those businesses. After over thirty years of democrats being in charge, it’s time for a new direction in District 11. As your new State Assemblyman, the changes and improvements I will make will be beneficial to families and businesses”.
Experience Matters.
“I am the candidate with the knowledge and experience who will work hard for everyone in the district to improve their quality of life and bring new housing and employment opportunities into the 11th District. I have already worked in two out of three of the branches of the government as a prosecutor and a judge and will be ready on day one of my term to write bills, craft new policies, and work in a bipartisan way with my colleagues in the State Assembly.”
As your new State Assemblyman, I will work on these issues in my first term:
Reforming State Government
I want to eliminate the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles and remove the high taxes placed on families when registering their motor vehicles. I will work to create a Department of Licensing and families and businesses will pay a flat rate to register their vehicles. I will also legislate a way to have smog inspection stations conduct VIN inspections, issue license plates, renew license tabs, and print vehicle titles. This option will mean less waiting in line at the DMV and more money in your pocket after you pay your annual vehicle registration every year.
Creating Family Wage Jobs
We can expand our industrial base across Nevada and within Clark County by offering incentives for manufacturing and production companies who want to move union jobs to Nevada. The covid pandemic showed us that our tourist economy is fragile, and we need to have more business opportunities for tech, manufacturing, and production jobs which pay a living wage and offer health care.
Enhancing Public Safety
I wholeheartedly support the police and first responders. I will work to increase funding of public safety and will hold the state accountable to maintain and enhance the benefits and salary earned by our valuable and important law enforcement officers, first responders, fire fighters, and their staff. We also need to clear the way for accredited and experienced police officers who want to move to Nevada to join our police forces and receive credit for their training. I will partner with the police and fire unions and meet often with their leaders to ensure the voices of these public servants are heard.
Improving Education
I will work to maintain the state’s focus on funding public schools and will partner with teachers unions to raise teacher and support staff salaries across the board. The current starting pay for new teachers and the upper pay scale for experienced and accredited teachers is too low. I will also work to protect students who have learning disabilities and find funding to make sure that no student falls through the cracks in Nevada. I oppose breaking up the Clark County School District and would like to explore removing charter school status.
Protecting Public Resources
I will sponsor legislation to immediately stop the trend in Nevada of converting public resources into private use for private entities or groups. I am deeply concerned about handing our streets and public roadways over to a European company so they can make billions of dollars in profits while our workers suffer in long commutes and lost wages. I am against any public funding for privately owned sports teams that siphons tax dollars away from schools. I oppose the plans by some county governments seeking an expansion of public airports while raising landing fees and the permanent removal of general aviation tenants, long-standing hangars, and businesses.
Traffic Infrastructure
Our streets are a lifeline to our homes, school, and our workplaces. I will promote innovative ways to reduce congestion and adopt some of the more practical approaches to making our streets safer. I will work to fund synchronization of traffic lights in high traffic areas. I will create laws to require construction to be completed on a stricter timeline and for work to be done at night or on weekends. I will also strengthen our traffic laws to help combat reckless and drunken driving. We owe it to our children and families to have safer streets in Nevada.
